A few years later, Katie met her husband at 41 years old and when they married they immediately transferred Katie’s eggs, but it unsuccessful by all accounts. As a result, the couple was told that Katie had a less than 1% chance of conceiving with her own eggs and was advised to use an egg donor. Believing what the doctors were telling her, Katie began the egg donor search, but wasn’t comfortable with the whole process and wanted to try IVF before using donor eggs.
After years of multiple pregnancies, Katie experienced several miscarriages and was devastated. Giving up hope of conceiving with her own eggs, Katie finally convinced herself to go the egg donor route if her upcoming IVF transfer was unsuccessful and started taking hormone injections again, and then she found out that she conceived naturally.
However, instead of being excited, Katie was terrified of losing her baby throughout her entire pregnancy due to having several previous miscarriages. Katie’s very honest “Pregnancy After 40” interview reminds us that all our feelings are valid when it comes to TTC, miscarrying and getting pregnant thereafter.
